Mike Gilmartin

A lifelong resident of the Chicago land area, Mike began tournament fishing in 2003. He fishes a full schedule of club and open tournaments in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, with the deep, clear waters of
Lake Geneva (WI) being his favorite lake.

Mike has been a member of the West Suburban Bass Anglers (IL) since 2003 and has been its president since 2005. He is also a member of the Tri-County Anglers of Northern Illinois and the Illinois BASS Federation
Nation.

Mike has written articles for the "Illinois Fishing News", held fishing camps for kids and is the faculty advisor for the University of Illinois at Chicago Fishing Club. He is a proud pro staff member of:

Product Review - CB's Hawg Sauce

I have been a believer in scent products for as long as I can remember. It just made sense to me (no pun intended). Adding something to my lures that would entice a fish to hold on for a second or two longer, giving me more time to detect a strike and set the hook, always seemed like a good idea to me.

As time went on, whether it became a confidence thing or not, I found that I wouldn't go on the water without it. I was convinced that if I was fishing in the right areas, with the proper presentation, using scent would help me land more fish, which was important to me, especially while tournament fishing.

In 2006, I was introduced to a scent product that was better than any I had ever used before. Randy "Crossbow" Jones' maker of CB's Hawg Sauce' was a small business owner from Olivia, North Carolina, who was trying to make his mark in the fishing industry by making and distributing his own scent product. Crossbow and I talked quite a bit about fishing back then and when he began talking about Hawg Sauce, I listened. One thing led to another and he sent me a sample to try for myself. I immediately noticed results, consistently landing more fish than ever before from lakes that I had been fishing for years. Needless to say, I was hooked. As a matter of fact, I was so impressed, I told Crossbow I would be more than happy to help spread the word about Hawg Sauce - I believed in his product that much. From that time on, I have been on Crossbow's Pro-Staff and a loyal Hawg Sauce user and, like I said before, I never go on the water without it. Those that know me know that I talk about Hawg Sauce every chance I get, which is easy when you're talking about a product that works so well and always produces results.

There is really something to satisfy everyone's taste, as CB's Hawg Sauce is offered in 3 different scents (Sweet & Sassy Garlic, Sweet & Sassy Crawfish and Sweet & Sassy Honey), in both spray and gel forms. By the way, don't think that Hawg Sauce is just for bass fishing. Personally, I have caught largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, rock bass, crappie, white bass, catfish and all types of panfish using Hawg Sauce.
